Philip Friel Advanced Dentistry
I graduated with a degree in dental surgery from Glasgow University in 1999, and passed the diploma for the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, in 2001.
Since graduation, I have worked in both NHS and private practice, and also within Glasgow Dental Hospital. Early in my career, I worked full time in the oral surgery department, and the restorative dentistry departments in the dental hospital. I continue to work in the dental hospital on a part time basis, and I am involved with the teaching of the undergraduate students in the restorative dentistry department; a role I have held for over 16 years.
I enjoy all aspects of dentistry very much, but I have a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and implant dentistry. I attained full membership status with the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, due to my strong commitment to attending many hours of courses every year related to this particular aspect of dentistry.
I have been placing and restoring dental implants for over 10 years, and I recently graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons (England) with a diploma in implant dentistry. I am proud to be the first female dentist in Scotland to be awarded this diploma from the RCS(Eng).
I offer short-term cosmetically focused orthodontic treatment using both fixed and removable appliances, with the “Quick Straight Teeth” system, and also “Six Month Smiles” systems.
I am a member of the Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh, the Association of Dental Implantology, The British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, Royal College of Surgeons of England.
